Vermont’s GMO labeling law is set to take effect on July 1, 2016. You can read more about it here. National efforts to restrict Vermont and other state’s abilities to impose such labeling requirements was up for vote in the United States Senate as the more commonly known DARK (Denying Americans the Right to Know) Act. Today, the Senate failed to have the votes necessary to put the bill through. This puts Vermont one step closer to its labeling law going into effect on schedule in July. This is hardly however the end of the discussion on the national level.
